Whites tree frogs are named after their descoverer. Depending on mood, temperater and humidity they change from brown to blue to green, somtimes with white spots. One of my year or so sold whites is not exactly considered to be dumpy or fat in the slightest, but looks practicaly athletic. I doubt your pet shop would sell you the wrong breed, try to attatch a picture and im sure you'll get more help.
