I only feed mine arthropods and annelids until they are full grown. Then they get one mouse every few months. The reason they say to feed baby horned frogs mice is because they are vulnerable to MBD which is brought about by a lack of calcium, vitamin D3 and a few other trace substances in the diet. If, however, you dust the invertebrate food items you should be fine. There are a million different ways you can care for your horned frog, just like any other pet. And every one of them is probably equally acceptable, as long as you feed it and don't neglect it.
