It was a bit of work to find those two sites and I also believe there are a few different species of fire skinks or I could be thinking of fire salamanders LOL. If he really hates the misting, try using warm water (not hot though, it should still feel a bit cool if you mist your own arm). Or just dampen some Sphagnum moss and place it into one of his hides, this way he can go in and out when he wants extra humidity. Misting the sides of the cage with a fine spray mister using warm water may ensure he won't flee in terror to get away from it LOL.

For most lizards an adjustment time of 1-2 weeks is normal. You can also find more information about this species doing a search with google. Alot of the sites I found were just general wildlife info type sites but even these sites can give you lots of information on how to care for him properly. Where they live in the wild and their wild habits will indicate what they need in the captive environment.
