IMO.. Take your frilly out everyday if it doesn't stress it too bad, especially while its young. As far as them staying on your shoulder, my frilly likes to hide under my hair or a super fav spot is inside my shirt. I can walk around for a very long time with mine in my shirt. They are very skittish by nature and can move pretty fast but mine doesn't seem to want to leave me when out. I would say, even if it protests a bit, you still need to get it used to being out and handled regularly to keep it tame and make vet trips easier. As far as where to pet them, my frilly loves to be petted on top of the head, but I would imagine if your frilly doesn't like where you touch it, it will try to get away, so I say try any area, esp feet, you will need to trim nails every once in a while. As far as potty habits, it depends.. mine slowed down and is sleeping now, but when it was awake and eating daily, it went nearly everyday. Make sure you have a water dish large enough for it to soak in clean water daily, they like to poop in the water. I use small cat litter containers (walmart- $1.50) and wash/refill them daily. I keep several of those containers, they work nicely for smaller dragons. I hope this information will be helpful for you, I would love to see a pic.
Take care and enjoy your frilled friend.
