In my very humble opinion, I feel that boas are not great for novice herpers. It's not that they're not beautiful, or can't be really gentle, but generally it's been my experience that "on the whole" corn snakes and kingsnakes are more docile than boas, and I have had experience caring for all 3 of these species. Just my two bits. Corn snakes get pretty big too, not 10 feet, but more like 6'. Have fun choosing your pet!
