So I thought I'd get a good size meal in for my snapper before my 8 day trip to the East which I leave on Monday morning for. I picked him up a 6.5-7'' (minus the tail) 193 gram frozen rat after thawing it in warm water I introduced it to him. As always he went crazy for it, I alway make him work of these meals before I give it to him. He was able to put his front body up to his feet out of the water on the ledge but them lost balance. I was able to get a show if him eyeing it.

After a minute or so I let him go for it and he quickly snap and submerged it after which I released.

His claws cut thru the rats body like a hot knive cutting warm butter

You can see the blood stain the water here

Getting the last bit in

I was rather surprised unlike previous times (been some months since his last one but he's eatten maybe 1 dozen or so rodents over his 4.5 years of life) He consumed it it within about 4-5 minutes and not swallowing a large portion and spitting it out but once when before its been as many as many 4-6 times. You can see the last of it in his neck budgle here.

Ate it all on one breath and took a nice breath of air after

Content after his meal
