That was the first species of snake that I had as a kid! in Ft. Lauderdale,FL....I caught them fairly often down there. Just recently I saw one in a pet store here in Central Florida. They had it labeled as a "Green Ratsnake"!!LOL. I told the lady there what it was,"Opheodrys aestivus" as I sell her different snakes from time to time....she said "no wonder it isn't eating any of the pinkies I put in there!!...I explained that they are insectivores and do very well on crickets, grasshoppers,roaches, and so on.......I've seen them in other shops now and then too,usually going for around fifteen bucks.....I don't know anyone that breeds them though, as they aren't too popular as compared to the many other species on the market. They did well in captivity for me, even as a young kid. But I treated them very gently and read about them as much as I could...they do well in a taller cage that allows them to climb............Doug
