Yesterday a friend of mine called me in desperation because her boss "dumped" a full grown, very tame, CWD on her saying "Circumstances in my life have changed and I can't keep this animal anymore, so YOU take care of it." Well, the poor thing has a bad arm infection and tip-of-nose desintigration, and, I suspect, a slight case of mouth rot. I showed her how to medicate it with Baytril and a dropper,(the medicine has been there but nobody has been giving it!), and this AM, when I went back to dose it again, pus spurted out of the upper arm. We bathed it in warm water and salt and massaged the arm until the pus seemed gone and blood flowed clean from the wound. I
told her to soak it as many times a day as possible. It is eating. It needed more heat in the basking spot, (accomplished), and, although a little thin, seems to have the will to live and does not seem in pain. I do not know how to take care of CWD's, and my friend knows less than I. HELP! We live in Southern California. We love animals, but can't give this sweet thing what it needs. Is there a CWD Rescue near us?
