NATIONAL POST (Toronto, Ontario) 17 February 07 City officials making use of cold weather to ensure loose cobra is dead It will take about a week of sub-zero temperatures for city officials to be sure the cobra loose in a west end house is dead, after cutting all heat to the house and draining the pipes last week. "We're going to try to get it as cold inside as it is outside," said Eletta Purdy, city-wide manager at Toronto Animal Services. The snake, gone astray in the semi-detached rooming house since Sept. 27, has not been heard moving since early October. Though reptile experts are almost positive it is dead, last week's actions are the latest in a bid to restore normalcy to the lives of six tenants displaced for five months. Since snakes get their heat from the environment, the cold will prove deadly for the venomous creature. City officials making use of cold weather to ensure loose cobra is dead
