Greetings

This morning at 3:30ish my sick boyfriend woke me up, and as I stumbled around the apartment, I stopped by the kitchen. There, on the counter, was a baby red-tail boa--alive and well. Since the snake room is some 30 feet from the kitchen, I was very surprised--also, since I was pretty sure I'd snapped all the lids shut on the containers we have our neonates in-- a clutch of 20, born 2/16. When my bf and I ran back to the snake room to do a head count (we'd actually had a brief escapee last week--found its shed near mama's tank, but actually uncovered the baby near daddy's tank), all 20 were accounted for with tight containers.

We have a 21st baby we didn't remember having--which means it's been free-range all this time. Thankfully, it didn't go down the kitchen sink, with the garbage disposal attached!

Considering that the clutch was born to a snake we were told was male....I think we're running out of surprises here...except for the fact that despite it all, everyone (including last night's surprise) is alive and healthy.

Just wanted to share,
Antigone
