spring water, bottled water, water that is conditioned with fish stuff or just water from where you found them would be fine. as far as food, here's some of the stuff you can feed them: fish flakes, algae wafers (like the kind you buy for plecos and catfish), spirenila (sp?), dead bugs, dead plants, algae, bloodworms, tubifex worms, and pretty much anything you could feed catfish. you could just release them now and they would probally be fine, or do you want to raise them yourself? if so, then i wouldn't be too worried about releasing them afterwards. as long as you don't hold them 24/7 they will be fine. another thing, when you change the water, don't change mroe than half of it at one time, if the water doesn't look cloudy then i wouldnt'change it, i've raised lots of tads and they don't mind water with lots of "gunk" on the bottom, in fact, they seem to like it. make sure to have a piece of driftwood or cork bark when they develop legs so they can get out if they need to. good luck and if you have any more questions you can email me at otis07_@hotmail.com or just reply.
