My son works and lives in the bush in Ghana. A prolonged drought just ended with heavy rains and lots of mud. These critters appeared all over the place. He says in full view, they are frogs, or perhaps toads, and he calls them Mud Buddies, for lack of even a Ghanaian name for them. (The local natives put them in stews.) I'm usually in the dart frog forum, but just thought I'd share this photo over here. The eyes don't look like any frog or toad I've ever seen, but I haven't researched anything yet.
