By all accounts I could scrounge up, the venom is of no consequence to humans. Their temperaments are pretty good and my pair is very handleable. If you disturb them in their cage though, they put on a great show with head flattening, hissing and closed mouth striking. Like many snakes, once they are picked up, they settle right down. In the few months I have had them, I have found them to be great eaters and really easy to keep with no special requirements, kinda like corns or other rats. I'm hoping they breed easily too! I suspect the real challenge with these guys will be getting the hatchlings going. It's too bad they are so rarely available. Hardly ever see ANY Teloscopus species for sale anywhere.
