Frogs and toads use their sight to hunt for food. They are attracted to small moving items. They also benefit from having to hunt down their prey. It gives them mental stimulation as well as excersize. If you can't stand live crickets and other insects they might not be for you.

I use a large kritter keeper for my crickets and don't really ever handle them at all. The only downside is I do occasionally get a few escapee's. My cats help solve that issue luckily.
