Hi All,

I need some advice re: releasing pacific tree froglets back to their natural habitat.

Here's the history: I caught some tadpoles with my daughters' for the classrooms to observe. We have done this in the past, and have always released them to the same pond once the tadpoles become froglets. This year the pond where we caught them dried up before they morphed. Now I feel unsure about where to release the little froglets. I don't know if I should release them where I caught them, but where there is no longer a pond, or perhaps in the same area, but down the trail a bit where there is a creek? Or do I even need to release them in the same area where I caught them? They are pacific tree frogs so they are native to the area where I live (San Francisco), and there are plenty of natural areas here in the city.

Any advice you can give me would be greatly appreciated. One of the froglets climbed out of the water yesterday and has absorbed all of it's tail. I haven't fed it so it will be hungry and needs to be released ASAP.

Thanks for your help!
Vanessa
