You can build streams from a variety of different materials. 1/2 cut PVC pipe, half round of cork bark, or you can form a stream from Winterstone molded around a wire/burlap armature that you can bend into shape. The layers of this plaster-like material are built up much like doing papier mache'. It comes as a dry white powder to which you add water and form it around the armature. You can also add colored paint powder to it. It does need to be sealed well with a non-toxic sealant such as Jasco cure-seal. You can also build the streams/waterfalls, etc. from various kinds of rock.
The water is generally circulated from a false bottom in the tank, using a small pump such as a Mini-jet or Rio 600.
