My little brother has a golden tegu about 14 inches long. It has been, and still appears to be, in excellent health. He just went to handle it and noticed a small amount of blood issuing from the corner of it's mouth. I'm a snake guy and don't know much about tegus, but I examined the lizard's mouth and couldn't find any more blood, or the source of it. The mouth appeared clean and I saw know sign of any infection, rot, inflamed area, etc. I thought maybe the lizard had lost a tooth, but I couldn't tell. Swabbing the inside of the mouth picked up only a tiny pink spot of blood. Anyone have any ideas or suggetions?
