The chlorine in tap water will dissipate, but if your water system uses chloramines as well, this is more stable, so just ageing the water won't do it. You can treat it with the fish tank stuff--I believe this is called something like "Aqua-safe" to get rid of this.
I don't have any first hand experience with these additives, because my well water is relatively pure, albeit rather hard, but I'm sure some fish folk will chime in with some product names. ----- Patty Pahsimeroi, Idaho
