Posted by: KTurtle at Wed Jun 13 22:19:17 2007 [ Report Abuse ] [ Email Message ] [ Show All Posts by KTurtle ] I have a female Painted Turtle (confirmed female by vet- age 3-4 years old) and a Red Eared Slider (sex not confirmed- age 2-3 yrs) in the same tank and I just found 7 eggs today. First off, can a female turtle lay eggs without having a male in the tank? Or does the female only lay eggs once she has mated? Second, could the female Painted turtle mate with a male Red Eared Slider and produce babies? I have read numerous turtle books but they make no mention of this type of scenario. If anyone has any ideas please let me know. Thank you kindly! [ Reply To This Message ] [ Subscribe to this Thread ] [ Show Entire Thread ] | ||
