I'm planning to get a pair of gold dust day geckos, which I will house in a large naturalistic setup. I want to make a background out of spray foam which will have crevices for planting orchids, bromeliads, epiphytes etc, and a waterfall.
The problem is that it is hard to find the right sort of tank to start out with (I live in South Africa). The Exo-Terra ones are too small for what I have in mind, so I'm looking for a fish tank to which I will add a mesh top. Of course, most fish tanks out there are long and low, so my options at the moment are the following:
1)A tall, almost triangular tank with a sort of bow-front, made to house Discus and to fit in a corner, or
2)A custom-built rectangular tank of about the same height and breadth.
Option 2 will give me more volume, but option 1 looks as if it will provide more opportunities for vertical planting, which, according to what I have read, looks as if it is the most important thing for Phelsumas. What do you guys think? Has anyone tried a triangular tank, and did it work well?
