Posted by: retaks13mac at Tue Jul 10 12:05:47 2007 [ Report Abuse ] [ Email Message ] [ Show All Posts by retaks13mac ] Hello everyone, I got up today and went to go clean out my indoor pond setup and feed my turtles and i found one of my RES on the basking spot with blood all around him and something bloody hanging from his tail. First thing i did was seprate him from the rest of the turtles and tried to rinse him with some clean water. He(i believe it is a male) is around 6 inches shell length and it kinda looks like the bloody part hanging out could be his penis. I was thinking maybe one of the other turtles tried to bite it while he was trying to mate with another turtle but i think all the other RES are males as well. The other thing i was maybe thinking was it could be a female turtle and it tried to lay eggs and could have damaged something and then eggs were not fully produced and its an egg sack. Im not sure what to do and i dont know where these is a vet that works on turtles around here. Please let me know what you think could be going on and give me suggestions.
