Ok, it looks like the forum mods deleted all the conversation on the reptile boards so I'll resume here. The last message I posted basically established that the black ones should be American Toads.

The brown ones, if the pictures were taken in jan/feb and they are still tadpoles now then they are either Green Frogs or Bullfrogs. Here is a nice diagram telling the difference between the two:

http://landscape.acadiau.ca/herpatlas/Larvae & eggs/FSBull-green differences.gif
The main difference is that Green Frog tadpoles are mottled with browns/grays while the Bullfrog tadpole is brownish with distinct black spots including the tail.

If the pictures are from jan/feb and the tadpoles are now turning into frogs then I'd be more likely to say leopard frog or pickerel frog but I would be surprised.

If you don't think you have Bull/Green Frogs then take a look at this page:
http://landscape.acadiau.ca/herpatlas/Larvae & eggs/larvae.htm#Leopard_Frogs_
It's a tadpole ID site for the amphibians of Nova Scotia so obviously there are some species you won't be concerned with and others that are missing. It's pretty easy to comprehend. A more complete key can be found here:
http://www.pwrc.usgs.gov/tadpole/
It's much more complicated and uses a high level of tadpole vocabulary in some spots. You'll probably want to go about halfway down the page and click on the Ranidae link to save time IDing to family.

Anyway, take a look at the more simple page and hopefully it's on there. I'm pretty certain you're dealing with Green/Bull tadpoles but without seeing them for myself it's hard to be 100% certain. If that's what they are then the first diagram should finish the job.

If you get a final ID let me know
