i rescued 2 arg b/w tegus about 2 months ago, some kid brought them up from florida and then went to jail, ditching them at his sisters house... they are about 9 inches s/v.... one has a section of his tail missing and he was a little skinny, his tail looked a little dented in the sides while his bro has a nice plump tail. they are both super tame once you get them out of the cage. i have them in a 75 gallon tank with about 5 inches of cypress mulch.
all they do is sleep. i never see them out, very very rarely in the heat lamp. ive never seen them drink water and only 1 or 2 times eating a cricket, ive thrown pleanty in there. to get them to eat i have to hand feed them, ive been making a mix of turkey/apple babyfood, crestedgecko powderfood and catfood . they lap up some and then just crawl to the other side of the couch and go back to sleep. is this normal? should they be hibernating in their hometown right now? they dont seem to be dying or sick or getting skinnier, but it seems weird to me that they have no motivation to get up and eat, or do anything at all.. I would like to find a more permanent home for them, but not yet if something is wrong with them. what do you think?
