Really I don't agree with taking them out of nature. Depending on where you are from, they may be cubans as well, which get huge and eat a lot.
In general if you want to use the 20L you would need to turn it on its end to make it tall, but with it being 12x12 on the ends it's kind of small floor space as well.
A better setup would be a 20H, gravel is fine but it needs to be covered in a layer of bed-a-beast or eco-earth, gravel is too coarse for their delicate skin.
Plants like pothos are cheap and grow fast and without any UV. You can use cocoa panels on the walls and have plants grow up them (creeping fig etc).
Make sure you treat the water (they need a soaking dish) and dust the crickets. Babies should eat every day, juvies every other, adults every 2-3 days.
You also need temp and humidity gauges. Find the correct ranges on a care sheet.
