Floor space is indeed very important and 4 x 4 is ample space but could be difficult to manage unless you have special built in dividers (if you do, then this would work great). Otherwise, something like 6' x 3' would work very well. If you can build in a divider, that will make your life much easier in terms of servicing the cage.
