Overfeeding a protein based food will cause the turtle shell to "pyramid" or rise up in the center. You'd know if your turtles had this. They should be rounded on top. It doesn't sound like you are overfeeding but it might be good for them to go a few days without eating. It wouldn't bother them and you wouldn't have to worry if you were away for a few days.
