This is not really breeding season for tegus. It sounds like a territorial/dominance body language to me. Female tegus require a period of hibernation to breed successfully. Although some people deny the hibernation period is essential, it is HIGHLY recommended for the health of the animal and success of the breeding season. The first thing I would do is make sure they have enough substrate to bury under and sleep for a few months undisturbed. Then they will be hungry when they wake up next spring. Feed them! They will be feeling frisky before long. Be prepared to separate the two as the females become very protective over the nests, sometimes even after the eggs are removed.
