Sounds like a green lizard

Known as Lacerta viridis. Eyed lizards (or you call them jeweled lacertas) would not be showing much green at 8 inches long, and they're bite is something that you would know about! They get to around 2 feet long, although they're SVL is around the 8 inch mark if you meant that. Eyed lizards also show large, bright blue spots down they're side.
