Make sure there is lots of driftwood and such the frogs can get out on. If there is then drowning should not be a problem because they are such good swimmers and can stay under for such a long time. I know what you mean with the auratus, I got one and was a little suprised at how shy they were. I didn't see mine for 3 months and thought it was dead, but a year later it's much more active. If you haven't had yours a long time they still may get more bold. THey seem to take a while to acclimate. Haven't personally got stuff from Patrick, but heard all great things, plus he was the one who first started breeding them.
