I have a ARG b&w. He is 5 years old now and I have had him since he was just a hatchling. I purchased him directly from Bert Langerwerf at Agama International. I cannot say enough about Bert and Hester. They are great!

My tegu is now just over four feet long and nearly 20 lbs ( /-). He is dog tame. He gets soaks/baths about twice per week. I feed fim by hand now. When hi was younger is fed SO ENTHUSIASTICALLY that it was too dangerous to feed by hand, therefore I used large forceps.

When my girlfriend and I are home I take him out and let him walk around the living room with us. After fully investgating the room he often climbs up on the coach with us...solely because we are warm I'm sure. I always soak him prior to letting him roam to avoid accidents.

Most lizards deficate in water. So a warm bath does the trick. It also keeps the cage really clean. It's much easier to bleach the tub than to clean the cage.

I really want a red too. They are sooooo cool. I want to have one of each. I believe that if you:
1. Purchase from a reputable breeder like the Agama International or Ron St.Peirre
2. Learn and provide correct care and
3. Take the time to handle, tame and socialize your tegu OFTEN

You too will have a great pet with either species.
I know that may not have helped.
Flip a coin or get one of each!
I'm gonna rearrange my space and try to make room for a red myslef!

Good luck!
