I am so sad to discover this morning that my 3-4 year old Pastel RES is dead. I suspect he's been dead since yesterday. He's in a 30 gallon tank with a small filter, a heater set in 76 degrees with a very shy and passive Matamata about his size, if not smaller, together with goldfishes.

When I found him, his head was near the filter. He's (was) a heavy eater and very agressive. No bites or anything I could think off that could've killed it...

So I posted here in hopes that someone might be able to give suggestions on what could've been the cause of death to prevent it in the future...
