Posted by: Olenoides at Sat Dec 8 16:14:23 2007 [ Report Abuse ] [ Email Message ] [ Show All Posts by Olenoides ] I decided to forcefeed the female agalma child using a 2 1/2 cc syringe. I attached a soft plastic extension for a superglue bottle which fits perfectly on the nipple of the syringe. The extension tapers to a long string thin tube which I cut off, leaving a hole large enough for the food to flow through. I put 20 large pinkies, 3/4 oz. Iams chicken cat food and a dash of spring water in my blender and set on "liquify". I gave the little girl .6cc of this concoction and put the rest in the freezer. I gently massaged the food mass down to her stomach. I then observed her reaction. After just a minute or two she began to contract her body forcing the food mass up to her throat and then opened her mouth to regurgitate but nothing came out! After several failed attempts she then seemed to be agitated and ran around her cage for 5 or 10 minutes. Then she went to the warm side of the shoebox, curled up and began to digest the meal. I suppose because the food was liquid she was unable to expel it, unlike the mouse tails. That was about 2 weeks ago. She went off heat today to brumate until March 1. She is strong and has good body mass. [ Reply To This Message ] [ Subscribe to this Thread ] [ Hide Replies ]
