I have had a few wc for more than 10 years. I keep them on cypress mulch with a good hide box as well. Temps in mid to upper 70's when possible (in FL). Let them settle in somewhat and only offer live after they have refused f/t. They can spook easily and a jumpy hopper mouse may stress them believe it or not. Anyway, mine fed on live fuzzies first then hoppers. Gradually (slowly)I moved them up to f/t small mice.
Good luck. Many many do not make it past a few months, sadly...
Watch for parasites and treat accordingly.
