Ok, to answer the first question... frilled lizards dont really "play". They can be active, but that has a lot to do with the setting. Mine became a lot more active when I got her in a much larger cage. I would say that if you do not have at least something that is say... 3x4x4 or 160 gallons at least, he wont be happy and he will not move around a lot. Now the second question... most frilleds are skittish when they are younger. As they grow they tend to be more comfortable with the owner. I've heard it takes about 3 months to a year so it really depends, just keep holding him and after a while he will lighten up. The good thing is that they almost never bite. As for sexing, you can never really be sure... dont try to check yourself. If you care about it that much, have a vet check because it is quite dangerous to do it yourself.
