You can try changing to a different and larger cage style that suits your cleaning better (front opening cage instead of tank and top perhaps) but that won't necessarily make it less stress free. It is usually easier just to remove the day geckos first. To prevent tail loss from recapturing escapees I would suggest getting a larger aquarium fish net or a butterfly net to aid in recaptures.
