i keep a uv light on my frog. they have hides, but they sleep out in the open all day. i have one on my marine toad also, but he really hides lol. i believe even nocturnal animals benefit from a little uv. i saw a show on discovery channal about some kind of nocturnal gecko that was common ( i forget what it was, might have been a house gecko). they did a study on it and it showed that its body was able to benefit from catching a few rays right at dusk just as much as the lizards that bask all day.

i think i read they live 7-10 yrs. my oldest is 4.5 yrs old.
