Have you been interacting with this snake since you brought it home? You know, taking it out of the cage everyday! If so, try to let the snake settle in to it's new surroundings. Assuming it's well fed leave it alone for 4 or 5 days, maybe even more. Then when you handle the snake , handle it for brief moments at a time. Hopefully your snake will get used to you interacting with him and you can gradually spend more time handleing him.
