well, to answer your question, in these forums, the topics dont "shift" around when new comments are made. that is probably the biggest problem i have with it. so if someone comments on a topic that is halfway down the page, few notice it. and not everyone will know enough to make a new topic in order to keep things on the top.

i know people have things against it, but i prefer the typical phbb forum to this format. aside from what i just mentioned, having "sticky" topics and whatnot keep from the forum clutter. for instance, i have contacted the kingsnake people to offer my phantasticus caresheet. no response from them. but you and i both know that probably a third of the topics in these forums(not just uroplatus)ask the same questions, over and over. hence the importance of "sticky" posts. people are constantly asking where to find such and such care info, what size tank for x number of species y. what plants to use, etc. you get the point. it's one of the reasons i mostly lurk around here anymore. you get new people coming along, and most of the conversation has been covered ad nauseum in previous posts. i can say that one of my primary reasons for "leaving" (more so switching to lurker status) was the aforementioned problem. the other forums seemed to open up a much more interesting dialogue, and had people contributing ideas from around the world (tends to be mostly americans here, and no offense to us, but there are europeans with great knowledge to share).

i guess that about covers it.
