Inbreeding.

With snakes and hybridizing, if you don't combine inbreeding with outbreeding, most likely what you are going to get is not going to be particularly attractive. With what I'm doing, I have a fairly large number of genes to manipulate where I don't have a good idea of modes of inheritance of individual genes or how the genes interact. I expect a large number of culls. That's the way it is with any type of animal when one is trying to establish a breed. With snakes, if the culls are healthy and reasonably attractive, they can be sold or given to friends. The simplest thing to do with unattractive and deformed babies is to feed them to kingsnakes. Saves on the food bill.
