Thanks for the reply...The turtle felt slimy all over. It has to be either a fungus or a bacteria. As stated above I bathed her in a mild betadine and water solution then rinsed. I then left her in a dry tank for 24 hours. Now she is in a proper tank with warm water and a basking site.
Bathing her removed alot of it...drying helped her skin return to a normal feel. Now since she is back in water it seems to be fading.
It was not fuzzy. It was as though someone had put her in pink easter egg die. The grooves of her shell had pink in them and all her skin was pink. You could still see her markings but with a pink coating. I spoke with my vet who agreed that is is possibly a bacteria. Since she was kept in a cold tank we assume it is a cold thriving bacteria. What ever it is it seems to be going away and she is acting like a normal slider. She has not seen a basking spot for a while but she is figuring it out. Thanks for the post although I think we are making progress. Weirdest stuff I've ever seen on a turtle.
