Posted by: slyhollstra at Wed Mar 5 15:06:18 2008 [ Report Abuse ] [ Email Message ] [ Show All Posts by slyhollstra ] just got my new fantasy a week ago. set him up with a 10 gallon tank with a small heating pad on the side and most of the top covered to keep in heat and humidity. unfortunately my max temp is only reaching 75-76 degrees and the poor guy has positioned himself right next to the glass in order to be warm enough. he has a healthy appetite but has shown NO interest in his water dish (i'm assuming because he's chilly?) . this can't be good! i would like to get his house up to 80-82 degrees and am not opposed to using a lamp, but would like to save that as a last ditch effort. i would rather use a pad if possible... i guess i will try moving the pad to the bottom? i purchased the zoo med "small" uth that puts out about 8 watts. has anyone experimented with a larger pad for a 10 gallon tank? 16 watts maybe? i don't want to burn my friend but i'm afraid he's just not warm enough. i'm also fearful that my frog will fall into estivation if i don't act fast! any ideas?
