Posted by: warnersister at Thu Mar 6 18:54:29 2008 [ Report Abuse ] [ Email Message ] [ Show All Posts by warnersister ] do you know her age and weight? make sure you give her plenty of extra calcium, and quarantine her in a separate room from your male for at least 60 days, preferably 90. if she is gravid, and it's important to you to know who the father of her babies are, you may want to keep them separated until she stops laying, as she can retain sperm for up to 8 months. what kind of substrate do you have her on? you may want to consider paper towels with a lay box rather than bark chips, which can cause impaction. once she's out of quarantine, you can use eco earth and create a bioactive substrate and she can lay wherever she wants but you'll have to search for eggs. i would also recommend more leafy hiding places, such as silk garlands around the top of the cage or bushes. cresteds prefer hiding in foliage as opposed to "caves" and "rocks."
