I can tell you that my sirens quit eating redworms after a few weeks of having them as their primary diet; they just started spitting them out as soon as they tasted them. My garter refused them from day one. My turtles will eat them, but they're not picky.

I would go with the nightcrawlers, just to be on the safe side. I've never heard of any problems associated with them.
