I honestly do not think there is too much of a real threat of being seriously envenomated by a T. dhara. For one, they are extremely placid and easy going. Second, they are relatively small (my adult female is just slightly over 3 feet) and have very small fangs that are capable of only delivering tiny doses of venom. I have seen both my male and female chew on small rodents for several minutes with very little effect so I unless you had one latched on and chewing on you for a long time, I doubt they could deliver enough venom to cause any damage. Take that for what it's worth, and I would still suggest handling them cautiously and with some light gloves just to be on the safe side.
