Hi guys, I've had my male tokay for almost five years now and he has developed some problems with his sticky pads. Most of the pads on his front feet have an area thats raw, as if the pad setae were ripped off. He's had this for a while, but it gets better with every shed, and then gets worse by the time the next shed comes around. I spray the tank twice daily, and he doesn't look like he has clumps of dry skin stuck to his toes. He has perhaps once or twice had small pieces of shed stuck, but I've soaked him and got it out.

He also has a female with him. They've been together for about 3 years and get along fine (they mated once so far). She had problems with toe shed only once and after soaking never again since. I dust the crickets with calcium and vitamin supplement and keep a dish of calcium in the cage. I have a UVB light. The tank is 120 gallon, and the temperatures range from 80-90.

I went to see a vet and his best reply was stuck shed and perhaps calcium deficiency. He gave me liquid calcium which I gave to him for 2 months and on and off since. All in all, his pads seem to be improving but very slowly, and like I sad get worse on and off.

Has anyone experienced such problems or might know the problem? If I recall correctly, the pads are composed of carotene, could he be deficient in that instead? Perhaps he scrapes them on the screen top?

Any ideas are greatly appreciated...thanks guys!

-Anton
