I was out herpin' along a canal in Davie, (South)Florida today and happened upon this little guy basking. He was actually basking with a friend, but it jumped into the water before I could snap the pic. Interestingly, they were "basking" in the shade. I guess they wanted to dry off without getting too hot. This may help with the debate below about whether they like to use a land area or not. I think it's best to always give the animal the option.
