It depends on what they are fed and the size tank they are in. I have 2 that were kept in a very small tank and hardly grew. Once I put them in a 20 gallon and started feeding them worms, they grew twice their size in 6 months.
If it's albino then it is likely an ACF since I have not heard nor seen anything about dwarf albinos.
The salt is a good idea. Also, keep the light source off (if they have one).
People will tell you different ways to keep them. I had quite a few as a child that I couldn't keep alive but these two are now 3 years old and I've raised them from tadpoles. I used to keep them with an over the top filter, heater, other fish, and fluorescent light. Now, theses guys have been raised in an underwater filter, fluorescent light, and guppies for an additional food source.
