Pacs are not the easiest thing to breed, and you can buy them wholesale for next to nothing, but would surely be a cool project for kids to learn from. I would imagine that people don't want to sell proven pairs so that they can produce them for themselves, and why create more competition in the hobby? I have been told this by two breeders. There's a bit involved in it like a cooling period, rain chambers, etc.

Sexing can be pretty accurate with pacs by the angle of the snout. Males have a sharper down slope, kinda boxy looking, and the females are more of a horizontal angle. Both sexes might grunt and make noises, but only the males will croak.
