Sorry, it is not really true that a tortoise will not eat anything that is toxic. I gave my Russian a hydrangea flower and while he was devouring it with great relish I decide to recheck my toxic list. Hydrangeas are poison! After 3 trips to the vet and $300 dollars later he is a-ok. Now, go to www. russiantortoise.org and you will find a toxic and a safe list. Print it out and keep it handy, ok?
