Our momma red belly was just miserable in captivity lately, so I took her back out where we found her last year and put her back.

She has been a real sweetheart, and we really enjoyed delivering her litter last summer. (she was gravid when the kids found her)

We kept "Red" and her babies through the winter, and released the young this spring.

I think that "Red" wanted to mate, and I did not want to get in the way

Besides, this gal produces big litters, 28 were born last August, so she can keep the numbers up if nothing finds her first.

Goodbye "Red" we will miss you
